Who was really the first person to compare Obama to Paris Hilton?

Seton Motley has posted a very interesting article on newsbusters.org.  Click here to check it out.  Senator John McCain’s recent video ad comparing the Illinois Senator Barack Obama to Paris Hilton has been described by the media as “nasty”, “childish” and “juvenile”, and even a “strange” “nuclear attack”.

But, who really was the first person to compare Obama to Paris Hilton?  According to an article written in the Washington Post on February 24, 2005, this person is none other than the anointed one himself, Barack Obama.  The article begins:

There’s nothing exotic or complicated about how phenoms are made in Washington, and, more to the point, how they are broken.

“Andy Warhol said we get our 15 minutes of fame,” says Barack Obama.  “I’ve already had an hour and a half.  I mean, I’m so overexposed, I’m making Paris Hilton look like a recluse.”

Seton goes on to state:

That is pretty much the who and the why of Sen. McCain’s explanation of his ad, is it not? It turns out he wasn’t mocking Sen. Obama so much as channeling him. Or making a mini-documentary out of the Post’s article.

Apparently, Time magazine had the quote as well.  From their Verbatim section:
